I learned when it comes to establishing goals especially for the new year, it should not just be something you just simply say and add to your new year or to-do list. Instead, really decide to go within and make a commitment to yourself and your business to establish habits that will position you to have success.

Habit #1- Read More
There are so many books out there that can help you to be successful and help direct you to establish successful goals and habits. If you are stretched for time, reading at least a chapter a day is a great best practice. About 30 minutes a day is a great start and I normally read a chapter before I go to bed but everyone is different so find what works best for you. Self-development books are overall great to read as it deals with personal development which is always great. Finding books that are within your niche that offers strategies to help grow your business is essential as well.
I personally like to use a Kindle to download my books. I read most of the time at night before I go to bed so it is great to read electronically. It is so much more convenient to me vs. a paperback or hardcover book. Some people prefer to have a physical book but do what works best for you.
If you are not big on reading, then there are apps that you can use like Audible by Amazon that reads the books out loud to you, and of course, you can also get audiobooks for free on YouTube. I always like to search on YouTube for a book I am reading and I can usually find the book there in the audio version for free.
Another app that you can use is Blinkist that condenses a book down in less time so you can consume the majority of the content conveniently.
Habit #2 – Schedule Tasks Daily
It is a great practice to get into the habit of scheduling tasks with daily reminders in order to stay on track of daily activities. On a daily basis, there are so many things that need to be done while running a business so scheduling a schedule on a weekly basis is a great idea. You can break down daily tasks by scheduling tasks throughout the day. Here are some tools that can be helpful to help you immediately schedule tasks as well as take notes etc:
- Google Calendar
- Trello
- Asana
These tools also enable you to set alerts that can go off on your device as a reminder as well as create to-do lists and so much more. It is also great if you have a team or a virtual assistant as you can create and delegate tasks to your team with calendar invites etc. You can also use it to invite clients with calendar invites etc. as well.
Habit #3 – Establish a Healthy Diet
It is a great idea to get into the habit of having a healthy diet. You can do this by drinking more water and eating more healthy foods. A great best practice that you can utilize to help establish a healthy diet is to plan ahead. I know personally for me it is so hard to get off track from staying on a diet when I do not plan ahead. There are so many factors that can throw me off of my goal that is way more convenient.
For example, when I am busy and do not have the time to fix something to eat, it is so much easier to just pick up a quick bite to eat or order in. The best way to not fall into the trap of getting off of my diet to eat healthier is to plan ahead. I started doing meal preps that have worked really great for me. I also have the daily regimen that I do every morning that helps me to establish a more healthy lifestyle.
Habit #4 – Surround Yourself With Like-Minded People
It is a great business practice to surround yourself around like-minded people. This is a great habit because it can help you to learn from others in your industry as well develop partnerships and collaborate together on projects etc. You can build your own community or you can join other established groups online such as Facebook groups as well as other online communities. You can also look into your local area for groups you can join locally like MeetUp groups and local Chambers of Commerce etc. It is so important to not get into the mindset of competitiveness. This is not a good mentality to have and when collaborating with others, you should have a mindset of abundance that there is enough room for everyone to do business.
Habit #5- Focus on Fitness
Exercising and eating healthy is a very important practice for fitness and should be implemented into your daily routine. Focusing on your mind, body, and spirit has a direct correlation with your business. You can invest in a gym membership and try to commit a few days a week to the gym. You can also try doing workout routines in your home for free. YouTube has a lot of free workout videos that you can do in the comfort of your home. As mentioned, you can also focus on meal plans to help with eating healthy on a daily basis. Meditation is also a great daily practice to implement into your daily routine as well.
