When it comes to motivation for your online business, it is important to focus on things that will help motivate you when times get tough. There are many reasons why people tend to get demotivated especially when it comes to working from home. There are so many distractions that come across our way whether you work from home or not that can get us off track towards our goals and can cause demotivation.
In order to stay motivated towards your goals, it is important to determine what your true motivation is. The best thing to do is to get crystal clear on your actual goal(s). It is one thing to be motivated to act vs. knowing how to act, so it is important to set up a clear goal setting strategy to map out how to get from A to Z towards your goals. Think of setting goals as a GPS system. Without a clear destination, there is no way to map out directions on how to get to where you need to go. So without an effective goal setting strategy, it can make it more difficult to have a clear reason as to why you should stay motivated towards your goals.
Defining your true why is so important as a foundation in order to achieve your goals. You may want an online business for example because it sounds great and maybe you can see yourself being good at it. That could be a great reason but is it a deep enough reason as your “why” to keep you motivated during the hard times when most people give up and quit? When you have a deep rooted reason “why” you want whatever your goal may be, that is when you can find a place where you can be truly motivated.
We should always strive to be motivated from a place of inspiration that connects to our true vision and our true “why”.

So it is important to figure out what stimulates you into motivation. Having effective tools in advance can help motivate you when times get tough which is essential.
Having a consistent routine is important as well. A routine helps you to stay on track and develop a habitual pattern and structure in your life. Finding the right routine for your lifestyle is key.
As mentioned, when it comes to having tools up your sleeve in order to stay motivated, I would recommend creating yourself a motivational toolbox.
A motivational toolbox will help you get through those days when you may be demotivated. A motivational toolbox is designed to help you stimulate your motivation. Below are a few common examples that you can use when it comes to creating your own personal motivational toolbox.
Music or certain songs that has a meaning especially if it's something that speaks to your particular goal is key. Music speaks to our subconscious mind and it's a natural language that's been passed down from the beginning of time. It's a way that our ancestors remembered things and it was also way to create certain emotions and belief systems. It is always great to determine if there's a song that gets you pumped up or shift your energy. Identify those types of songs for you and use them as needed. The great thing about music is that you can just get up and dance. If you have any negative energy or tension in your body, dancing and moving your body is a great way to release tension and put you in a positive state.
Listening to songs that resonate with your goals can help you to stay focused and keep you motivated in the long run.
Movies, videos. and documentaries are great motivational tools to focus on for motivation. Are there specific movies, documentaries, or YouTube videos that you know of that really inspire you? You can always save them into a playlist if so. If not, search for success stories maybe from people who inspire you to learn more about their stories etc.
It's always great to basically use these things in your motivational toolbox to help you especially when you're feeling down in the dumps or maybe you're just completely demotivated, or even if you're at the brink of quitting. It is always great to watch someone that motivates you that may have words of inspiration and encouragement.
Books, audio books, or magazines are great tools to use for motivation. Are there books, audio books, or magazines that can inspire you? For example, we go through phases in which were looking for inspiration or learn about specific information that will help us grow. Sitting down with a good book is like a reset button and can help you get motivated if you are reading something that is connected to your goals.
If you are like me who likes to read digital books out of convenience, than I highly recommend getting a Kindle. It's definitely beneficial and it has the ability to allow you to download digital books and you can download hundreds of them all in one place which makes a great investment.
Listening to audiobooks are also great. Audio books are great to listen to on the go or while going to the gym, cleaning the house, or while going out for a walk etc. YouTube is a great resource for audio books and are free. You can go on YouTube and look up audiobooks.
Amazon also has an audio version of their books also so if you download a lot of books on Amazon, you can download their version of audio books called Audible. For more information, you can click here.
Magazines are also great resources for motivation. You can always look up a topic that you may be interested in. You can subscribe to a lot of them and they have a lot of great information that you can use.
Another thing that I want to emphasize is podcasts. Podcast are really awesome and they have a lot of great information. You can always tune into a podcast of your interest for motivation. There may be a blogger or entrepreneur that you may follow that may have their own podcasts so it is always great to check if so.
Going to different locations or places to work towards your goals can not only inspire you. but can also stimulate your motivation.
What are some places you can visit to help you feel more grounded? What places inspire you? Is there a place that helps you feel connected to your goals? Is there a happy space that you can go to from time to time that makes you feel happy or peaceful?
Consider going out in nature whenever you can. It may be a favorite park, a walking path or a nature path, these are all great examples that will help you connect with nature. Connecting with nature can also help jumpstart your day and lift your spirits.
If you work from home or in an office setting and want to just get away to a different location for a change of scenery, coffee houses are great places to work at. Having a treat such as a latte or doughnut to help you get through the day can be motivating. It can also shift your mindset with being in a different environment. Coffee houses are also great places for business meetings etc.
The gym is also a great place to go to work out which can help change your state of mind and can help pump you up and get energized. It is also great way to listen to a podcast, training course, or audio book etc. while working out to help keep you focused on your goals.
Finding different places that holds space for reflection, peace, and inspiration are great places to keep you motivated towards your goals. You can focus on going to these places at least a couple times a week.
As an alternate solution to going to the gym, you can exercise while at home. It has been proven that physical activity even if it's just a short workout can stimulate the brain and activate certain areas that create motivation. You can create a simple workout routine and create a workout plan to determine how many days of the week you will do it. It can be a really simple workout that you can customize that works best for you. You can take advantages of physical activities that you like such as taking a walk or riding a bike etc.
You can also take advantage of workout videos from home with free videos on YouTube. There are so many different free fitness videos you can search for in just about any categories such as pilates, yoga, aerobics, and dance of any kind etc. I like to personally take advantage of simple 15-20 minute instructor led workouts.
It is important to rethink your internal clock. It is important to determine what times works best for you. Are you a morning or night person? Depending on what times of the day you are most productive is key. Finding the times of the day when you are most alert will help you create a daily schedule that is customized to focus your heavy work load when you are most alert.
Know what schedule works for you in the long run and just find ways to honor it and not fight it. When we try to focus and get motivated at the wrong time of the day, it creates resistance. Alot of times, when we are forcing ourselves to work from a place of resistance, we can feel less inspired and demotivated. If we choose the wrong time of the day to focus on the more detailed tasks that takes more focus, we may be more tired and not even have any energy to focus.
If you find yourself in a rut, pull out your motivational toolbox or meditate. If you can, it may just simply be best to take a short nap while on break if that is what is needed. Whatever can help get you out of the rut, use your tools and focus on your why.
If it is just one of those days, sometimes it is best to just completely shut down for the day with expectations of a better day tomorrow. If you are burned out and working from a place of resistance and demotivation, you are better off doing nothing then non productive work.
Our work is much more productive when our mind is right meaning being cleared out from negative thoughts, full of optimism, and a positive state of mind. You are much better restarting when you are able to work when you are working from a place of inspiration and motivation.
