How To Eliminate Distractions

When working from home and having an online business, it is so easy to run into many distractions. These distractions can consist of children or family members that may be home with you during the day, tv, phone, and anything to do with lounging etc. 


Because of these distractions, it will take a high level of discipline in order to be effective with working from home and having an online business. 


In this blog post, I will point out a few tips that you can take advantage of that can help you eliminate any distractions you may have throughout the day.

Time Management

I believe time management is the most important. Without effectively managing your time, it is almost impossible to effectively get anything done. You can take advantage of tools that can help you stay on track on a daily basis. 


The first thing that you want to initially do is to create a 60 day plan for the next 2 months and break them down into subgoals. Once you have done that, you can also break down your monthly and weekly goals by prioritizing what tasks need to be done first.


Once you have broken down your goals down into weekly tasks, you can then break them down into dailly goals. Each day, you will  be able to prioritize your daily tasks. 


The tools that you can use that will help you to break down your goals, is to use a simple planner or document that will break down your daily tasks. 


You can also use electronic tools such as Trello which is a great tool that you can use to list your tasks and you can also check them off as you complete them. I personally use Trello and it is really awesome to use for this purpose. The great thing about it is that you can download the app on your smartphone or tablet where you will always have it on the go.


There are other effective electronic tools you can use also such as a simple notepad you can download on your phone or Google has a To Do list that accomplishes the same tasks as well. The great thing about all of these tools is that they are free. 

Have Accountability Partners

It is important to have accountability partners to help you stay accountable towards your goals. The goal is to not have to 100% rely on an accountability partner in order for you to be responsible. The ultimate goal is for you to be self reliant and self disciplined enough to not have to rely on anyone else to hold you accountable, but if you are not there yet, having an accountability partner can be very beneficial and help keep you focused when you may feel discouraged or easily distracted.

Maintain Positive Thoughts

 It is so important to have a positive mindset when it comes to working towards your goals. If you are connected to your vision and you truly understand your “why” you are so focused on your goal, then that is the motivation that is needed in order to maintain a positive mindset towards your goals. 


If you are disconnected from your “why”, then it is important to reevaluate what is keeping you stuck or not motivated towards your goals.

The goal everyday is to try to stay happy no matter what. Regardless of the discouragements that may happen daily, it is important to find a way to manage any negative events that may occur and to focus on having a solution mindset when things occur. 


At the end of the day, unfortunately we cannot control some things that may happen, but how we react makes the biggest difference and how we handle it is key.


Having a backup plan is also a great way to help manage any negative things that may occur unexpectedly.


Some tools that you can use that can help you maintain positive thoughts towards your goals are vision boards, scriptures, prayer, meditation & affirmations that can help you stay more connected towards your goals which will ultimately eliminate distractions.

Activities For Children/Childcare

If you have children at home and you are working towards your goals or online business etc., then you may want to consider some type of daycare or hiring a babysitter. There are resources available that you can use to hire a babysitter to come into your home even if for a few hours while you work or simply help you find daycare in your local area.

Surround Yourself With Positive People

The people around you can have the biggest impact on you and your day. Be mindful of being around pessimistic people and from those who do not have goals and surround yourself with people that are optimistic and who support and uplift you. It makes life harder when you are around those who may make you feel bad about yourself or about your goals that you are working towards and distract you. 


If you find yourself around people who dim your light and are not supportive of you etc., then consider if possible to distance yourself from them. 


If you are around negative and distracting people, it does not feel good and it just makes what you are doing harder and keep you in a low vibrational state which is never good.


If you have to be around these people, then at least try to keep what you are working towards to yourself and work in silence.


In the meantime, surround yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself and who truly love and support you or just stay to yourself until you find the right people for you.


Ultimately, I can go on and on on how to eliminate distractions but these are the core things to consider that can help eliminate distractions at the core of most people’s issues that I have personally found that is an issue for them.
